Dr Nikki Scheiner, PhD, DPsych

Clinic Director & Consultant Psychologist

I believe that getting sick is a lonely and isolated process, and that getting well only happens in relationship.

My experience over many years of private and public practice has reinforced that everyone likes to think of themselves as a very ‘private person’. We are all private people to some extent. I don’t get up in the morning and tell my life story to the person who fills my car with fuel. However, if I visit a doctor or a therapist, I want to share my distress or symptoms to use their expertise to help me with my problem. That means that I need to trust them, or take a leap of faith that I can. I have to find the courage to make myself a little bit vulnerable so that I am open to their help.

As a therapist, I see myself in a privileged position to offer my knowledge and skills to help you think through your difficulties – how they started, what keeps them going, and imagining how life would be without them – and together to design a personal plan to help you achieve the quality of life that you want.

I can never know what it feels like to be you, so I don’t assume that I know what your struggles mean. What I do is listen to your story and learn how the challenges you have face – and may continue to confront – impact on you. Together, we then come up with a treatment plan designed to help you move towards the life that you want for yourself.

Practice Manager & Mindfulness Lead

I have a Masters qualification in Psychology and I am accredited with the British Psychological Society. For the past 4 years, I have worked in the Acute General Hospital, treating patients with mood disorders (Anxiety and Depression) as well as running groups helping patients recover from chronic functional physical and neurological symptoms. I have co-presented the findings of these groups at international conferences, as well as submitting posters.

After graduating, I qualified as a Mindfulness Practitioner and have gained considerable experience as a Mindfulness teacher, again using these skills to help patients overcome the challenges of chronic anxiety, depression, and pain. I run regular Mindfulness courses and enjoy watching the benefits this practice can bring to people who have struggled for many years. Woking both in London and Italy the results enriches the benefits I can bring to my patients.
